This is the first piece of concept art created for Varus – the Arrow of Retribution, another super fun Ranged dps Champion in the League Of Legends. More Varus related concept art coming as soon as I dig it out!
Here’s some of the concept art created for Draven “The Glorious Executioner”!
I work with some super passionate people and there are many disciplines involved in the creation of an LOL Champion.
Draven was a blast to work on, to suit his unique play-style we wanted to inject a lot of personality into him, and of course his trusty wicked blades! This was the first image that came to mind while developing his look and vibe. Sometimes I’ll start with a Bust to get inspired, but there are many ways to tackle starting a concept, in Dravens case it was his attitude first!
His weapon took some development as we wanted him to wield something that reflected his over the top ”loked out” personality, something that couldn’t be confused with any other Champions weapon and felt menacing and wicked. Here’s the first exploration (drawn in sketchbook/scanned in and toned in PS5).
More refinement on blade direction we felt worked best..
Final design for Blade with functionality broken down, The double flip boomerang blade of Death! He’s got some options!

Draven in action, at this early stage of concepting we tend to keep the design grey scale, avoiding color until the design works well tonally (It’s less distracting as I can easily get lost in color all day!). This was the initial design for his costume and it went through a bunch of further explorations.
Here’s the turn around and final design for Draven. We do a full “turn around” of the character making informed decisions about surfaces, materials and proportion, then the 3D modeler (The BAdAss omonteon) has everything he needs and take it to the next level!
I hope this was insightful to some Gamers/Artists out there!
If you are interested in seeing a further breakdown of the design process for Draven and additional concept art let me know and I’ll organize some more stuff!
More League of Legends artwork soon! All the Best – Σ
Fiora was a blast to ideate on, we wanted a female Champion with a unique flavor and who was swift as the wind! If you snooze, you loose against this Leggy Lass! I have some more of her development art that I’ll organize and post shortly.
This was the very first Champion I had the opportunity to work on. I come from a 3D background so the journey towards creating 2D art for a living has been an interesting one, and I’m an excited about the future!
All the Best!
I wanted to share a project I had the pleasure of working on in the past few years DUST!
Some major effort is being invested in this indie production by an awesome crew calling themselves EmberLab. They are some of the nicest, coolest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with.
Check out the latest update, I’m camera shy so bare with me. Spread the word if you like it!
Here’s a creature from the world! The Elegant lady. This species has adapted to prey on the mysterious microscopic ”Hydras”.. More updates soon.
Here’s a recent interview I did for Advanced Photoshop Magazine discussing the industry and showing some techniques for asset creating and Poster Art workflow.
One of my favorite cartoons of all time… dark, twisted and ahead of it’s time! It’s bizarre stories tripped me out as a kid..
I have wanted to do a rework of one of the main characters from the show “Numinor” for a while now.
He was in suspended animation for almost the entire series and I always wondered what might happen to him after the main story arc…
I have a story idea for him taking place later in his life, when he is forced to turn into a darker, more twisted character with very different ideals and mentality to his native race, the Zotrians.
Having being held captive in isolation for decades by the Gods, now free but forgotten.. he returns in search of his sanity and to eradicate these “Demigods” that held him captive for so long.
The Universe has become even more bizarre and savage, as ever. . hostile to explorers.
Early 3D sculpt.. update soon
Quick Sketch, more soon..
I had a bit of time yesterday to work on this again, did a quick mood painting to just work out some style details for face, more soon!
Some mesh studies I’ve been working on to define a standard base mesh I can use for character sculpting.
I’ll be using the results from this to build some sci-fi characters of my own creation, more stuff soon!
Quick update on this one, a work in progress for a friend of mine. Steo is one of those people who clearly should have been born in a different era, he’s a Celtic Nomad trapped in a modern world, we’ll thats how I see him anyway!.. roaming the landscape in search of the morning game.
I’ll post the final version as soon as I get a minute to finish it.
Commissioned for a writer friend of mine Brad Bode. He a sci-fi/fantasy nut like myself who likes his content a little on the darker side, so it was a pleasure to knock something up for him.
Go check out his site here! www.bradbode.com
Quick process breakdown here. Kept this one quick, loose and flat and just had some fun with the mark making.
*UPDATE! CBR Article here*
A Superhero movie set in the mid 1960′s Chicago? A menacing story with intriguing characters that actually have some dimension?! Sign me up! As its set in the 60′s I referenced posters from that decade and went for more of a raw, restrictive color look. This is the poster design I came up with for client:

I just picked up a new mechanical pencil, finer than I’m used too and its giving me a different feel to mark making, the following concept is the result. I’m doing a bunch of sketching for a world of mine, mainly headgear and some very durable everyday “UV suits”, it’s a very different type of Earth. Pencil’s scanned and colored in Photoshop.
We had a great model this week, he was a total character and brought a good buzz to the room. Heres some sketches from class..

A few recent drawings from life drawing sessions, great to be back in a class environment surrounded by creative people and a teacher who inspires you to explore your craft.
Here’s some blind contour and some gestures.. I’ll keep posting stuff as I go.

A sneak peak (work in progress) of one in a series of images focusing on jetpack technologies, looking back at the 80′s various models (in a reality where jetpacks are as old as the automobile). I’m exploring the fashion and clothing styling that would be worn with this technology if jetpacks were a standard issue everyday item in my world.
More soon, I’m having fun with these!

Oh, cool link I stumbled on today..

Here’s the rules:
“The rules this week are simple. This is a self-portrait round, where you will be portraying yourself in costume for the event. Masks are a requirement, but that does not mean you have to wear them – you can be holding them, have them off to the side if you want to show the face as well, etc.
Your costume must somehow reflect you, but how it does this is entirely your choice! Maybe it’s your favourite colour, or incorporates design elements from your favourite season, or animal, or maybe you’re dressing to match your favourite historical period.”
Here’s what I have so far…
I went in and started to refine line work and figure out body detail/design some more, knees still there just cropped for now, more soon..
Stared on color but am jumping back to line work now…
I’m DONE!
I’m working on an image for a good friend of mine Evan Meyer. Check out the company hes running.. www.rideamigos.com
Next time you see this piece it will be finished!.. next is background and lighting/shadows.
Initial sketch here..
The following work is some of my 3D creations that were used for magazine covers, pullout posters and marketing images for the release of “Medal of honor: Airborne” for Electronic Arts – Los Angeles. (all comp & post work done by Myself )
Today… a Cosmic number is within my grasp! At 8:31am I will be one billion seconds old! Damn… thinking about a lifetime in seconds and reaching a billion I think helps put large scale numbers (200+ billion stars in our MilkyWay) into perspective.
When will your encounter take place?! Find out
This mix was cut together by the talented and imaginative musician John Boswell, I’m glad its getting the press it deserves! The Cosmos Series is one of the most profound series committed to film.
Some cool facts about it series.. “The series was first broadcast by the Public Broadcasting Service in 1980, and was the most widely watched series in the history of American public television until The Civil War (1990). As of 2009, it is still the most widely watched PBS series in the world.[1] It won an Emmy and a Peabody Award and has since been broadcast in more than 60 countries and seen by over 500 million people.[2][3] A book to accompany the series was also published.”
Carl Sagan to me is the Quintessential Human.
Below, some of my artwork from Medal Of Honor : Airborne.

One of my favorite places..
“The first color movie of Jupiter from NASA’s Cassini spacecraft shows what it would look like to peel the entire globe of Jupiter, stretch it out on a wall into the form of a rectangular map, and watch its atmosphere evolve with time.
The brief movie clip spans 24 Jupiter rotations between Oct. 31 and Nov. 9, 2000.

ytmnd version.
Voyager 1′s approach during a period of over 60 Jupiter days. Notice the difference in speed and direction of the various zones of the atmosphere. The interaction of the atmospheric clouds and storms shows how dynamic the Jovian atmosphere is.
The following is a section from a workbook I created for EA to describe in detail the processes for achieving “Next Generation” graphics. Hope its helpful! © EA-LA.
Final image. I really enjoyed rendering this one up and making some lighting choices as well as restricting my color palette to make certain aspects pop. This is a painting for a fellow Artist (www.ritalux.com) that’s been overdue for a while now.. Hope you like! I’ll add some wip’s and some process stuff this weekend. (always good to see other peoples processes:)
Happy weekend All,

I’m working on an image for the multi-talented DAEDELUS (Alfred Darlington). He’s an experimental music producer from Los Angeles. He covers a very broad spectrum of music styles and they way he puts it all together is really quite remarkable.
I have many a fond memory over the past year listening to his albums and before you know it you have a soundtrack to your summer, I thought it was fitting to return the favor in some way.
Great interview here
This image is about to get flattened and painted over! Just a quick one before I take it to completion, it should look a lot different next time you see it!

Greetings Humanity!
My name is Eoin Colgan and I’m from the Emerald Isle of Ireland. I have always had an infatuation with art and design along with a huge appreciation for nature and all things Cosmic. Growing up in an evergreen land with castle ruins and crisp evening sky’s left a lasting impression on me, while rainy days tucked away in the suburbs of Dublin allowed me to unlock my creative dreams.
I currently live in Los Angeles, Venice and work as a Fantasy Artist for Riot Games.
